JERUSALEM (AA) - An Israeli soldier was slightly injured on Sunday in a rocket attack launched from southern Lebanon, Israeli media reported.
“An Israeli soldier was slightly injured in a barrage of rockets fired from Lebanon towards the north last night,” reported the Israeli channel 7.
Dozens of rocket shells crossed Lebanese territory toward the Bar Yohai settlement and the air base on Mt. Meron in the Upper Galilee region, the report added.
Some of the missiles were intercepted, it said.
Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli army said in a statement that its warplanes launched raids on “Hezbollah targets in the Maroun al-Ras area which included military infrastructure.”
The Israeli army also attacked Hezbollah "military structures in the towns of Tayr Harfa and Yarin in southern Lebanon.”
There was no comment from Hezbollah on the Israeli army statements.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported on Sunday that Israeli warplanes attacked the outskirts of Tayr Harfa and Al-Dhahira towns causing “severe damage to property, crops, and homes.”
It added that Israeli warplanes "attacked civilian targets and homes in the town of Maroun al-Ras."
On Saturday evening, Hezbollah said that its fighters bombed "the Meron settlement and other surrounding settlements with dozens of Katyusha rockets."
Tensions have escalated along Lebanon’s border with Israel since the Israeli army launched a deadly military offensive on the Gaza Strip following Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack, amid an exchange of cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides had fought a full-scale war in 2006.
