JERUSALEM (AA) – Israeli fighter jets struck the house of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in the Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City, the army said on Thursday.

An Israeli military statement said the house was "used as terrorist infrastructure and often served as a meeting point for Hamas' senior leaders.”

The army released footage showing the airstrike on the Hamas leader’s house.

Haniyeh currently lives in Qatar.

There was no comment from Hamas on the Israeli army’s statement.

Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.

At least 11,500 Palestinians have been killed, including around 7,900 women and children, and over 29,800 others have been injured, according to the latest figures from Palestinian authorities.

Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques and churches, have been damaged or destroyed in the Israeli offensive.

The Israeli death toll, meanwhile, stands at 1,200, according to official figures.
