Turkish metropolis starts campaign to help those in need amid pandemic of COVID-19

ISTANBUL (AA) – Istanbul, Turkey’s most populous city, has rolled up its sleeves for a new campaign to help people in need amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The Istanbul Municipality will be starting a solidarity campaign where people will be able to make donations through the municipality’s website and hotline.
Appearing on TV, Ekrem Imamoglu, the city’s mayor, said food packages as well as cash support will be distributed to a quarter-million or more families.
The Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the month of cooperation and help, is coming up in about three weeks, he added.
The campaign to connect people who can give to those in need that can be supported online at birliktebasaragiz.ibb.gov.tr, by the hotline 444-0093, or via WhatsApp at 0552-153-0034.
