ISTANBUL (AA) - After four years in a temporary location, Turkiye’s first contemporary art museum is coming back home, the Istanbul Modern announced Saturday.
Next Sunday, Feb. 27, following a major renovation at its old location in Karakoy, on the city’s European side, the museum will begin the move to its new building, which was designed by award-winning Italian architect Renzo Piano, said a statement.
Its new building will boast exhibition halls, educational workshops, a cinema, library, design shop, event spaces, cafe and a restaurant, the statement added, but did not give a date for the reopening.
In 2018, the museum was temporarily moved to the Union Francaise building in the city’s Beyoglu district.
