Italian Jews launch public appeal against ethnic cleansing in Gaza

ISTANBUL (AA) – Over 200 Italian Jews signed a public appeal through La Repubblica daily to oppose the ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

“Italian Jews say: No to ethnic cleansing! Italy must not be an accomplice,” said the text of the appeal released on Wednesday.

It also pointed out that US President Donald Trump wants to expel Palestinians from Gaza, adding that in the West Bank, “the violence of the Israeli government and settlers continues.”

The US president has repeatedly called for the US to "take over" Gaza, which has been destroyed by Israel's relentless bombardment, and resettle its population to redevelop the enclave as "the Riviera of the Middle East."

The idea has been vehemently rejected by the Arab world and other nations, saying it amounts to ethnic cleansing.
