ISTANBUL (AA) - Italy announced on Saturday that a special flight departed from the city of Pisa, Tuscany, carrying over 15 tons of humanitarian aid bound for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
"Italy is doing and will continue to do everything possible to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population in Gaza,” said Defense Minister Guido Crosetto.
The cargo will be delivered to Larnaca, in the Greek Cypriot Administration, before being transferred to the embattled enclave of Gaza.
The ministry reiterated its dedication to addressing the humanitarian crisis, adding to its broader initiatives supporting civilians affected by the conflict.
Previous measures included deploying the navy ship Vulcan and earlier this year facilitating the transfer of Palestinian children to Italian hospitals for treatment.
Israel has continued its devastating offensive against Gaza since a cross-border attack by Hamas in October 2023. The onslaught has killed nearly 43,800 people and rendered the enclave almost uninhabitable.
It has also displaced almost the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
