Japan, Jordan vow to strengthen ties in politics, economy, security
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi hosts visiting Jordan's King Abdullah II in Tokyo

ISTANBUL (AA) – Japan and Jordan on Tuesday agreed to strengthen bilateral ties in various fields such as politics, economy, and security as the leaders of the two nations met in Tokyo.
Jordanian King Abdullah II held a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo on Tuesday, which marked Takaichi’s first meeting with a Middle Eastern leader.
During the meeting, Takaichi said that it is “crucial that the ceasefire in Gaza be sustained and the agreement be implemented sincerely and steadily,” adding that Tokyo will actively contribute to international efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
According to a statement from the Japanese Foreign Ministry, both sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues and concurred on further deepening the bilateral relations by strengthening cooperation in the fields of security, economy and politics.
Both sides also welcomed the signing of economic and cybersecurity agreements.
Bilateral relations between Japan and Jordan were established in 1954, with the bilateral trade amounting to 84.13 billion yen (nearly $566 million) in 2024.
