ISTANBUL (AA) - Japan's pledged financial assistance to Ukraine to date has reached around $20 billion, the country’s foreign minister said Thursday.
"Japan has pledged a total of about $20 billion in the areas of humanitarian aid, finance and reconstruction, and we have steadily implemented them," Toshimitsu Motegi told a news conference, according to Kyodo News.
"We will continue to work with the international community so that the social and economic structure of Ukraine can be enhanced. Therefore we will continue to provide reconstruction support to the country," he added.
Thousands of civilians and combatants have been killed while millions of people across the Ukraine-Russia border have been displaced since Feb. 24, 2022, when the war began, four years ago next week.
