ANKARA (AA) – Japan’s parliament on Tuesday demanded the return of civilian rule in Myanmar where the military overthrew the government early this year in February.

The lower house of the parliament, locally known as Diet, condemned the military coup by Tatmadaw -- the Burmese military, Tokyo-based Kyodo News reported.

In the resolution adopted today, Japanese lawmakers described the military coup as an “act to trample on efforts and expectations for democratization.”

The lawmakers urged the Japanese government to “make full use of all diplomatic resources and every effort to realize the restoration of democracy in Myanmar.”

“The military junta cannot be justified at all,” the resolution insisted, expressing “solidarity with the people of Myanmar.”

Myanmar's military junta has killed one more person in the ongoing anti-coup protests taking the death toll to 841.

According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, a local monitoring group, Myanmar's military junta has killed 857 people during anti-coup demonstrations so far, while 4,677 people are currently under detention, with 110 of them being sentenced.
