Japan's trade balance posts deficit of $2.9B in April
Japan's exports and imports both up by 8.3% year-on-year in April

ISTANBUL (AA) - Japan's international trade balance posted a deficit of 462.5 billion Japanese yen ($2.9 billion) in April, increasing by 7.6% on a yearly basis.
The country's imports totaled 9.44 trillion yen and exports amounted to 8.98 trillion yen, both up by 8.3% year-on-year in April, the country's Finance Ministry revealed on Wednesday.
The US and China were the main trade partners for Japan in April.
Transport equipment took the lion's share from overall exports with 23.7% in April, followed by machinery with 18.2%, and electrical machinery with 16.1%.
On the import side, mineral fuels accounted for the largest share with 23.4%, followed by electrical machinery with 14.8%.
