AMMAN, Jordan (AA) - Jordan condemned Tuesday Israel's killing of two of its nationals in Tulkarm in the northern West Bank and demanded Tel Aviv investigate the incident.
Palestinian news agency, WAFA, said late Monday that Jordanian Palestinian Tawfiq Awwad Fuad Hussein, 25, died from injuries by Israeli occupation forces' bullets in northern Tulkarm.
The incident occurred after Israeli special forces fired at two youths in a store, causing critical injuries that led to their deaths.
''Jordan decries the Israeli occupation forces' killing of two Jordanian citizens on Monday in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm,'' the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It urged Israel "to conduct an investigation and to assume its responsibilities and uncover the circumstances of the operation."
The statement clarified that it would take all necessary diplomatic measures under international law.
Additionally, it said it is in contact with the families of the two nationals who hold Palestinian identities.
Tensions have been running high across the occupied West Bank since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip after a cross-border attack by the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, last October.
Nearly 427 Palestinians have since been killed and more than 4,700 injured by Israeli weapons fire, according to the Health Ministry.
Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza, where more than 31,000 people have been killed.
