Jordan confirms no military aircraft allowed over its airspace in wake of Israeli strikes on Iran

Jordan stresses its neutrality following Israeli attacks on Iran, asserting that its airspace remains closed to military flights

By Laith Al-Jnaidi

AMMAN, Jordan (AA) – Jordan has not permitted any military aircraft from warring parties in the region to cross its airspace, the Jordanian army said Saturday in the wake of Israeli strikes targeting Iran.

"No military aircraft have been allowed to traverse Jordanian airspace from any of the conflicting parties in the region,” the official Jordanian news agency cited a military source as saying.

Jordan has previously reiterated this position through official statements from various officials, emphasizing that the kingdom "will not be a battleground for anyone."

At least two Iranian soldiers were killed Saturday when the Israeli army targeted Iranian military facilities in response to Iran's large-scale Oct. 1 ballistic missile attack on Israel.

The White House said Israel’s strikes must bring to an end direct exchanges of fire between the two sides, warning Tehran of “consequences” should it respond.

Iranian military officials had previously warned that any attack from Israel would be met with a “harsher response.”
