AMMAN, Jordan (AA) - Jordan confirmed on Friday that it had not detected any attempts to approach its airspace following an attack on Iran which Western reports attributed to Israel.
“Jordan is concerned with preventing any encroachment on its borders or any infringement of its sovereignty,” Jordanian government spokesman Mahdi al-Mubayidin told Al-Mamlakah TV.
He stressed that Jordan “will not allow itself to be a battleground for anyone.”
“There have been no attempts to approach our airspace in recent hours,” he said.
He stressed that “air operations of the (Jordanian) air force will continue” and urged against the spreading of rumors.
On Sunday, Jordan announced its readiness to confront threats after detecting and intercepting drones that entered its airspace.
A day earlier, Iran fired around 350 missiles and drones at Israel, in response to an April 1 missile attack targeting the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.
Earlier this Friday, Iranian news agency Mehr reported that national air defense systems had destroyed three small drones in the sky of Isfahan, central Iran.
