AMMAN, Jordan (AA) - The Jordanian and Dutch air forces on Monday conducted a second airdrop of urgent aid materials to northern Gaza within 24 hours.

According to a statement by the Jordanian army, the two airdrop missions were carried out with a C-130 aircraft and the aid was delivered to the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza.

It said the aid materials included "relief, humanitarian and medical supplies delivered in special boxes equipped with GPS-guided parachutes to ensure their delivery to the designated locations within the required timeframes."

The statement stressed that the two missions confirm "the strong bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and are an expression of the value of solidarity and cooperation that the Dutch people have for the Palestinian people."

The latest operation brings the total Jordanian airdrops to its two field hospitals in Gaza to 13, with the first carried out on Nov. 6.

Israel has launched a deadly offensive on Gaza following an Oct. 7 attack by the Palestinian group Hamas, killing at least 27,478 Palestinians and injuring 66,835 others, while nearly 1,200 Israelis are believed to have been killed in the Hamas attack.

The Israeli offensive has left 85% of Gaza's population internally displaced amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the enclave's infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
