ALMATY, Kazakhstan (AA) – An exhibition of Anadolu Agency photos and video footage taken during the night of the July 15 coup attempt in Turkey has opened in the Kazakhstan capital Almaty on Monday evening.
The exhibition, organized by the Turkish consulate in the southeastern city of Almaty and the Turkish-Kazakh Businessmen Association (TUKIB), opened at Ramada Hotel.
Large numbers of guests gathered at the opening event including the Turkish consulate general Riza Kagan Yilmaz, TUKIB President Firat Develioglu and mission representatives of foreign countries.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Yilmaz said the exhibition was set up on behalf of the heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect democracy and national sovereignty.
“Turkish people going out into the streets, showed a historic example of solidarity against the coup attempt,” Yilmaz said.
TUKIB President Develioglu said he remembered these brave fellow countrymen with great respect.
On July 15, a coup attempt in Turkey left 248 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Turkey accuses the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) – led by Fetullah Gulen, a resident of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania – of organizing the July 15 defeated coup as well as a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
