ISTANBUL (AA) - The Istanbul-based Karanfil Group supported the International Exhibition of Traffic Safety and Security Equipment held in Benghazi, Libya.
The fair brought together experts and leaders in the traffic safety sector from around the world, according to the company.
The event, organized with the support of Libya's Interior Ministry, the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, and the Benghazi Police Department, stood out both locally and internationally.
The opening of the fair was attended by Osama Hammad, the prime minister of the government in Benghazi.
Türkiye participated in the fair, which hosted nearly 40 local and international companies, with 11 firms led by Karanfil Group.
Turkish firms captivated attendees with their cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions, leaving a lasting impression and creating a positive experience.
Software solutions specifically designed for the traffic sector attracted significant attention from visitors.
In a statement, Murtaza Karanfil, the chairman of Karanfil Group, emphasized that Türkiye's success in the field of traffic safety is driven by its extensive experience.
He underlined that Türkiye stands out with its road network spanning around 500,000 kilometers (310,686 miles) and its growing number of vehicles.
Karanfil said the number of vehicles on the road increased by 20.8 million over the last 20 years, reaching 31.067 million.
"Despite this traffic density, investments in infrastructure and technology have led to approximately a 45% decrease in traffic accidents and about a 54% reduction in fatal accidents," he added.
Karanfil highlighted Türkiye's traffic safety achievements, noting: “23,500 km (around 14,600 mi) of divided highways, 2,000 km (1,242 mi) of motorways, and accident management systems” played a key role, with the success rooted in “human-centered innovative solutions and determination.”
He pointed out that they aim to contribute to the process of Libya entering a period of stability and development with their knowledge and technological solutions in the field of traffic safety.
The chairman also emphasized that the fair is not just an exhibition space but also an important platform for fostering international collaborations.
Karanfil stressed that the products showcased by Turkish firms at the fair aim to contribute to global road safety standards.
"We are proud to support Libya's reconstruction process. Moreover, we believe that the information and experiences shared at the fair will inspire new projects," he said.
The chairman emphasized that traffic safety, the theme of the fair, is not only a critical issue for today but also for the future.
"This fair is an important opportunity to enhance safety standards and expand collaborations between the two countries. Our goal is to ensure safer roads for everyone," he said.
