ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish modular construction firm Karmod has set up container buildings at an oil extraction field in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the company said on Monday.

The newly installed structures, located in the coastal city of Pointe-Noire, will serve as office buildings for an offshore oil project.

Karmod General Manager Abdullah Yuceer highlighted the growing preference for modular container buildings at African energy sites, noting their adaptability to challenging field conditions.

"Our next-generation container structures, built with a full sandwich panel system, provide optimal insulation and can be used in all climate conditions," Yuceer said.

"Whether in extreme heat, cold, heavy rain, or noisy environments, our containers offer ergonomic, comfortable workspaces for site employees," he added.

Yuceer also emphasized the efficiency of the assembly process, explaining that a 100-square-meter building can be fully installed on-site within a single day thanks to a bolt-nut and interlocking system.

The container buildings in Pointe-Noire will be used by engineers working on the Moho offshore oil project, one of the largest petroleum ventures launched in DR Congo to date, he added.

He said 28 office units, covering a combined area of 500 square meters, have been delivered and installed at the site.

The project utilized 20 container units measuring 230x600 cm and eight units measuring 230x1200 cm.
