Kenya sees decline in COVID-19 cases amid 2nd wave

Eastern African country records 130 new cases, 2 more deaths in past 24 hours

ANKARA (AA) - Kenya on Saturday confirmed two more COVID-19-related deaths and 130 new infections, indicating a decline in the number of infections amid a second wave of the pandemic in the eastern African country.

“Two patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the cumulative fatalities to 1,655,” the country’s Health Ministry tweeted in its recent update.

The new confirmed infections were from a sample size of 1,973, the ministry said, adding 187 more patients have recovered from the virus.

The COVID-19 was first reported in China’s Wuhan city last December before spreading all around the world. Almost 80 million people have been infected while over 1.75 million have died, according to the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
