Kuwait reports partial power outages from falling debris after drone interception

Iran launched retaliatory strikes after US-Israeli attack on country

By Fekry Abdeen

ISTANBUL (AA) – Kuwaiti Electricity Ministry announced partial power outages in several areas on Sunday from falling debris following the interception of Iranian drones in retaliation for a US-Israeli attack on Iran.

Some overhead power lines, particularly in the southern part of the country, were taken out of service, ministry spokesperson Fatima Abbas said in a statement.

She attributed this to “debris resulting from the interception of a number of drones, which caused a temporary disturbance in the electricity grid and partial outages in several scattered areas.”

She added that emergency teams are currently assessing the damage and carrying out the necessary repair work.

The US and Israel launched an attack on Iran on Saturday, killing several top Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran retaliated with a series of drone and missile attacks that targeted Israel, US assets and several Gulf countries.

Israel and the US launched a similar attack on Iran last June, triggering a 12-day war before a ceasefire was announced.
