'They burned all these medicines, all of them, and then they left,' says Muhammad al-Kandari

GAZA, Palestine (AA) – A Kuwaiti activist posted a video Thursday revealing the extent of the damage to a medicine warehouse burned by the Israeli army at Nasir Hospital before it withdrew from Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip on April 7.

Muhammad al-Kandari described the situation at the hospital, which Israeli soldiers raided, in the video, which was published on X.

He pointed to the door of the warehouse.

"Behind this door, there is terrifying destruction and damage," he said.

"We are in a building belonging to Nasir Hospital. After (Israeli soldiers) withdrew, it was shelled and set on fire. Would you like me to show you what they burned? They burned all of these medicines, all of them, and then they left."

Kandari, who recently returned to his country, reached Gaza on April 1 along with a medical team from the Kuwait Relief Society.

The Israeli army had rendered Nasir Hospital dysfunctional after besieging it for a long time and raiding it on Feb. 15.

Most recently, on March 24, Israeli soldiers raided the hospital again after besieging it, detaining many displaced Palestinians and health care personnel.

Following a four-month-long occupation, the Israeli army withdrew from Khan Younis on April 7. Mass graves were discovered in the city, and bodies were collected from the debris of homes and roadsides.

Israel has waged a deadly military offensive on Gaza since an Oct. 7 cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas, which killed some 1,200 people.

Nearly 34,600 Palestinians have since been killed and over 77,700 others injured amid mass destruction and shortages of necessities.

More than six months into the Israeli war, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins, pushing 85% of the enclave’s population into internal displacement amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine, according to the UN.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which in January issued an interim ruling that ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided
