ISTANBUL (AA) - Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia on Wednesday emphasized their “deep cultural and historical ties,” as the Kyrgyz president met the visiting head of Mongolian parliament in the capital Bishkek.
Sadyr Japarov and Gombojav Zandanshatar stressed "the richness of the common heritage of nomadic culture and traditions,” according to a statement by the Kyrgyz presidency after the one-on-one meeting.
Japarov and Zandanshatar discussed bilateral cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, and the Kyrgyz president expressed importance of developing trade and economic relations as well as opportunities for cooperation in mining.
“The president expressed gratitude to the Mongolian side for supporting Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Agreement on International Road Transport on the Asian Highway Network, as well as for supporting Kyrgyzstan’s candidacy for non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028,” the presidency said.
For his part, Zandanshatar conveyed his country’s interest in further deepening cooperation in various areas, especially inter-parliamentary cooperation, saying Mongolia welcomed Bishkek’s efforts to combat crime and corruption.
Zandanshatar arrived in Kyrgyzstan Monday on an official visit, and also held talks with his Kyrgyz counterpart Nurlanbek Shakiev.
