Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of Ukrainian presidential office, resigns

President Zelenskyy complies with request, relieves top official from duty

ISTANBUL (AA) - Kyrylo Tymoshenko on Tuesday announced he resigned as deputy head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree relieving him of his duties.

“I thank the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the trust and the opportunity to do good deeds every day and every minute,” Tymoshenko said in a message on Telegram.

The move comes a day after the Ukrainian presidency released a statement saying Zelenskyy dismissed Tymoshenko, complying with the latter's request.

Tymoshenko gave no reason for his resignation.

Kyiv Governor Oleksiy Kuleba is set to replace Tymoshenko, who was in office since May 2019, according to media reports.

Zelenskyy said in his video address on Monday he will transfer officials of various levels in ministries and other central government bodies, in the regions, and in the law enforcement.
