Latin American countries report new COVID-19 cases, fatalities
Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Paraguay struggle against pandemic

BOGOTA, Colombia (AA) – Countries across Latin America have reported new COVID-19 infections and fatalities, according to official data announced on Friday.
- Brazil
At least 672 people in Brazil lost their lives over the last 24 hours, raising the virus-related death toll to 625,085, the country’s Health Ministry data showed.
With 228,954 more people testing positive, the total number of cases topped 24.7 million.
- Mexico
According to the Health Ministry, Mexico’s COVID-19 case tally surged by 49,150, while fatalities increased by 495 over the past day.
The country of some 126 million people has so far recorded more than 4.82 million cases, 304,803 deaths, and over 3.89 million recoveries.
- Colombia
Colombia’s Health Ministry reported 273 more fatalities from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the country’s death toll to 133,292.
The total number of cases surpassed 5.81 million, including 17,663 new infections, while the number of recoveries rose to over 5.57 million.
- Argentina
Some 77,729 new infections raised Argentina’s case tally to over 8.2 million, according to the Health Ministry data.
The nationwide death toll rose to 120,352 as 333 patients died over the past day.
More than 7.27 million recoveries have so far been reported.
- Peru
Peru reported 102 fatalities over the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 204,940, according to the country’s Health Ministry.
The number of coronavirus cases in the country rose by 23,315 to reach over 3.12 million. More than 3.1 million people have recovered from the virus.
- Chile
Over the past day, Chile reported 47 deaths related to COVID-19, pushing the death toll to 39,594, according to the country’s Health Ministry.
The number of infections rose by 24,037, raising the total number of cases to more than 2.45 million. More than 1.92 million people have recovered so far.
- Bolivia
According to Bolivia’s Health Ministry data, 50 more patients died from COVID-19 over the last day, pushing the death toll to 20,824.
The country reported 6,587 new cases, raising the total number of infections to 841,757, while recoveries reached 670,031.
- Paraguay
According to data from Paraguay’s Health Ministry, 64 more patients died from COVID-19 over the last day, pushing the death toll to 17,176.
The country reported 5,724 new cases, raising the total number of infections to 559,906, while recoveries reached 480,315.
