BEIRUT (AA) – A Lebanese civilian was killed by Israeli artillery shelling in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, according to local media.
An artillery shell struck near a house in the town of Kafr Kila, killing one person, the state-run National News Agency reported.
The broadcaster also reported Israeli artillery shelling on the outskirts of Tayr Harfa town. No injuries were reported.
In another development, Hezbollah said that it had attacked the Al-Mari Israeli site with “appropriate weapons,” resulting in “direct hits.”
The Israeli army, for its part, said its fighter jets struck a Hezbollah rocket launcher in southern Lebanon.
Tensions have escalated along Lebanon’s border with Israel since the Israeli army launched a deadly military offensive on the Gaza Strip following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack, amid an exchange of cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces.
Nearly 190 people have been killed, including 29 civilians, in an exchange of cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces since October, according to figures released by Hezbollah and Lebanese media.
