Lebanon's Hezbollah targets Israeli military near Shomera base

BEIRUT (AA) - Hezbollah on Wednesday said it targeted an Israeli infantry unit near the Shomera base in northern Israel, located close to the border with Lebanon, resulting in casualties.

Tensions have flared along the Lebanese-Israeli border since the Oct. 7 cross border attack by Hamas.

Israeli artillery in response shelled Lebanese border towns and villages including Blida, Meiss al-Jabal, Al-Sindiyan, Naqoura and Al-Labouna, according to sources.

The state-run National News Agency said an Israeli missile fell without exploding on a house in the center of the town of Hula. A football field was targeted by three missiles in the same town.

In his first comments since the beginning of the latest conflict, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Nov. 3 said the Hamas “operation was 100 percent Palestinian in terms of both decision and execution.”
