TRIPOLI, Libya (AA) - Libya said Tuesday that it will reopen its land border and air traffic with Tunisia after more than a month-long closure due to rising coronavirus cases in the neighboring country.
In a statement, the official Our Government website said Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh had instructed the ministries of interior and transportation to open land borders and restore air traffic with Tunisia starting Thursday.
On July 8, Libya announced the closure of its land border and air traffic with Tunisia due to a spike in COVID-19 cases and outbreak of the mutated Indian strain of the virus there.
Dbeibeh stressed the need to take all precautionary measures to combat the virus as movement between the two countries resumes.
Libya has registered 286,894 coronavirus cases and 3,956 deaths, according to the National Center for Disease Control.
