Addressing Turkish lawmakers, business platform's legal advisor says efforts continue to open offices in Turkiye

ANKARA (AA) - Thanks to its efforts to quash fake accounts, LinkedIn has succeeded in stopping 99% of attempts to open such profiles, the business social network platform has told Turkish lawmakers.

"LinkedIn's most distinguishing feature is to connect real people. We prevent fake profiles. With our work, we prevented fake accounts and stopped 99 percent of fake account attempts," said Joshua Retien, a legal advisor of the platform, on Thursday.

Speaking to the members of the Turkish parliament's digital channels committee, Retien said that the platform continued its work to open physical offices in Turkiye.

He underlined that the platform aims to adopt clear global policies and apply them to all users.

Noting that LinkedIn has been operating in Turkiye since 2011, Retien said the current user base in the country "is growing very quickly."

"We have approximately 810 million members worldwide and 11 million members" in Turkiye, he said the platform adds "tremendous value to the labor market."

"Job adverts are published, people develop themselves accordingly in order to find a job, and we create an opportunity to establish contact between the job seeker and the employer," he added.

Headquartered in Ireland, the Microsoft-owned LinkedIn employs more than 18,000 staff and provides services in 26 languages.
