Low-Earth Orbit and CubeSat Workshop to kick off in Turkish capital on Wednesday

Leading companies from satellite and defense industries to attend 2-day event hosted by Turksat in collaboration with global communication partner Anadolu

ANKARA (AA) – Leading companies from the satellite and defense industries will gather on Wednesday in the Turkish capital of Ankara for the Low-Earth Orbit and CubeSat Workshop, Turkish satellite operator Turksat said on Tuesday.

The two-day workshop will be hosted by Turksat in collaboration with global communication partner Anadolu, Türkiye's premier international news agency, at the ATO Congresium Congress and Exhibition Centre in Ankara.

The workshop will focus on the concept of New Space, specifically the production of CubeSats, a type of miniaturized satellite, and ground segmentation technologies, Turksat said in a statement.

The workshop's goals include evaluating future opportunities and forming an alliance with Türkiye's leading companies in the field of low-Earth orbital satellites.

Panels and sessions on various topics will also be organized as part of the workshop.

Türkiye's previous CubeSat projects and the results obtained from them will be evaluated in the session titled Türkiye's CubeSat Experiences.

Another session will look at the opportunities offered by team satellites as well as the challenges encountered in this field.

A panel titled The Space Situational Awareness and Threats will discuss technologies used to monitor and assess space, as well as traffic management strategies and hazards such as space junk.

In addition, the event will also feature panels and sessions with the titles New Space Concept and Future Predictions, Current Developments in Space Law, Launch Concepts and Technologies, Operation of Low-Earth Orbit Satellites and Ground Stations, Space and Model Satellite Visionaries: In the Footsteps of Talents.

The event is organized with the support of the Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Ministry as well as the Defense Industries Presidency.

The two-day activities will be platinum sponsored by Turkish defense giant Aselsan and domestic low-Earth orbit satellite company Plan-S, and gold sponsored by Turkish Space Agency (TUA), Ankara-based Scientific and Technological Research Institution of Türkiye (TUBITAK), Turkish defense company Roketsan, and Turkish Aerospace Industry (TAI).
