Malaysia premier Anwar visits United Arab Emirates to strengthen ties
Key agreements, discussions highlight commitment to thriving partnership, says Malaysian Foreign Ministry

ISTANBUL (AA) - Malaysian Premier Anwar Ibrahim's visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) commenced Thursday with a high-level meeting with President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Accompanied by Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir and Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Tengku Abdul Aziz, the two leaders discussed global concerns, strengthening cooperation and enhancing relations, Anwar Ibrahim wrote on X.
The visit included investment agreements between Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the UAE International Investment Council (UAEIIC) and a renewable energy partnership between MIDA and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (MASDAR) to develop 10 gigawatts of capacity worth $8 billion in Malaysia by 2025.
Malaysia's Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja will chair the Malaysia-UAE Business Council (MUBC), with Rashid Alblooshi of Mubadala Energy representing the UAE.
Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia and the UAE will continue to explore closer cooperation to strengthen their economies.
The visit and agreements underscore Malaysia and the UAE's commitment to a robust and sustainable partnership for shared prosperity, it said.
