Malaysia on Saturday confirmed the death of its climber in the US and said the body of the climber has been repatriated to the country while two others injured were discharged from hospital.

In a statement, Malaysia Foreign Ministry confirmed the development and said the remains of the Malaysian climber who passed away at Mount Denali, Alaska, US, have been repatriated to Malaysia.

The ministry also confirms that the "two other Malaysian climbers have been discharged from hospitals and returned to Malaysia safely.

On June 2, US state-run media Voice of America reported that a Malaysian climber likely died of exposure and altitude-related illness after sheltering for days in a snow cave with minimal survival gear near the top of Denali, North America's tallest mountain in Alaska.

"Zulkifli Bin Yusof, 36, likely died (May 29) in a 5,974-meter elevation cave in Denali National Park and Preserve," the US media quoted park spokesperson Paul Ollig as saying.

Later, the National Park Service recovered his body.
