Mexican ambassador visits Anadolu Agency headquarters
Anadolu Agency is 'very reliable' source for Latin America, says Jose Luis Martinez y Hernandez

ANKARA (AA) - Mexican ambassador to Turkey on Thursday paid a visit to the headquarters of Anadolu Agency, Turkey's premier news source.
Jose Luis Martinez y Hernandez was welcomed at the headquarters in the capital Ankara by Serdar Karagoz, the agency's chairman of the board and director-general, and Yusuf Ozhan, the deputy director-general and editor-in-chief.
In the meeting, Karagoz expressed his pleasure to host Hernandez and talked about Anadolu Agency's global news presence and journalistic work.
The agency's director general and Mexican ambassador also agreed on the importance of having media cooperation between the Anadolu Agency and Mexican media.
Underlining the good relations between both nations, Karagoz said this could open doors to cooperation opportunities in the fields of culture, economy and tourism.
Expressing his appreciation for Anadolu Agency's journalism activities, the envoy said Latin American embassies in Turkey see the agency as a "very reliable" source.
Hernandez also mentioned that about 66,500 Mexicans visited Turkey in 2019, while some 15,000 Turkish traveled to the Central American country.
There are regular direct flights of Turkish Airlines between Istanbul, Mexico City and Cancun once a day.
The importance of the Spanish service of the Anadolu Agency's news network was also discussed during the meeting.
Karagoz and Hernandez also exchanged symbolic gifts at the end of the meeting.
