Mexico's industrial output rises 0.4% in April

ISTANBUL (AA) - Mexico's industrial output rose by 0.4% in April in seasonally adjusted terms, compared to the previous month, the country's statistical authority announced Friday.

The figure came in line with market estimates, while industrial production contracted 0.9% in March.

In April, manufacturing output increased 2.1%, compared to the previous month, and production of vehicle and auto parts rose 6.6%, INEGI said in a statement.

Machinery and equipment activity in April expanded 5.6% from March, while the chemicals industry's production rose 6%, it added.

On an annual basis, industrial activity was up 0.7% in April, compared to the same month of last year. That figure, however, came much lower than the market expectation of a 1.3% gain.

Industrial production, on an annual basis, showed an increase of 1.6% in March, compared to the same month of last year.
