Mexico's industrial output rises 1% in May
Annually, industrial activity expands 2.8%

ISTANBUL (AA) - Mexico's industrial output rose by 1% in May in seasonally adjusted terms, compared to the previous month, the country's statistical authority announced Friday.
The market estimate for the figure was to remain unchanged on a monthly basis, while industrial production rose 0.4% in April.
In May, construction grew 7.2% and mining expanded by 1.7%, but manufacturing industries decreased by 1.4%, INEGI said in a statement.
On an annual basis, industrial activity was up 2.8% in May, compared to the same month of last year.
That figure came in much higher than the market expectation of a 1.9% gain.
Industrial production, on an annual basis, showed an increase of 0.7% in April, compared to the same month of last year.
Construction and mining increased 8.1% and 5.1% year-on-year, respectively.
