Mexico's trade deficit widens to $2.22B in May
North American country's trade deficit rises to $8.99B for first 5 months of this year

ANKARA (AA) - Mexico's trade deficit widened to $2.22 billion in May, according to data released by the country's National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) on Monday.
The figure is up from a $1.88 billion deficit in April, and it comes in contrast with a trade surplus of $387 million recorded in May 2021.
The North American country's trade deficit rose to $8.99 billion for the first five months of this year, INEGI said in a statement.
Mexico's merchandise exports climbed to more than $50 billion in May with an annual gain of 22.4% from the same month of last year.
Its imports, however, climbed further to approximately $52.2 billion last month with an annual increase of 29.1% year-on-year, according to INEGI figures.
