Military helicopter on training flight crashes in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (AA) - A helicopter crew was killed when a Mi-8-type military helicopter on a training flight crashed at a training range in Uzbekistan, the Defense Ministry said early Saturday.

The Mi-8 helicopter, belonging to the armed forces, crashed late Friday at the Kattakorgan range in Samarkand province while performing a training flight, according to a statement by the Uzbek ministry.

A special commission established to investigate the incident reached the scene and started searching for the cause of the accident, while details on fatalities were not disclosed.
