18 rockets fell on open areas in Mount Meron area in Upper Galilee, army says

JERUSALEM (AA) - A spade of missiles launched from Lebanon targeted an area in northern Israel, according to Israeli media on Friday.

At least 18 rockets were fired from Lebanon into open areas in the Mount Meron area in the Upper Galilee region near the border, Israel Hayom daily reported.

No casualties or damages were reported.

The Israeli army has yet to comment on the reported attack.

Earlier, the Israeli army said it intercepted a drone, which it claimed was launched from Lebanon toward the Western Galilee region in northern Israel.

The interception resulted in minor material damage in the town of Julis, due to the fragments of the intercepting missile.

Tensions have escalated along Lebanon’s border with Israel amid an exchange of cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed nearly 34,600 people since last October following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas.
