Mogadishu mayor lays foundation stone for Turkish-funded technical school

Vocational center will offer education to underprivileged children in Somali capital free of charge

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AA) - Mayor of Mogadishu Yusuf Hussein Jimaale laid on Saturday the foundation stone of a Turkish-funded vocational training school in the Somali capital, his office said.

Senior officials from Turkish mission, Turkish aid agency TIKA's Somalia coordinator Ilhami Turus and representatives of the SAFA foundation attended the ceremony.

The technical school will offer free of charge education to underprivileged children.

Türkiye’s non-governmental organizations, as well as government institutions have been involved in humanitarian and development projects in the East African country Somalia since at least 2011.
