  • UK not 'at war' with Russia, says Premier Starmer amid rising tensions

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer answered questions during a series of BBC radio interviews across England, covering topics from the war in Ukraine to domestic issues such as immigration, energy prices and funding for hospices.

On Ukraine, Starmer rejected any suggestion that the UK is "at war" with Russia, saying, "No, we’re not at war, but Ukraine certainly is, because Ukraine has been invaded by Russia."

He underscored the UK's unwavering support for Ukraine, adding, "That’s 1,000 days of aggression from Russia and 1,000 days of sacrifice for Ukraine, and that is why we’ve said consistently that we stand by Ukraine. We cannot allow Putin to win this war."

  • ICC decision paves way for arms embargo on Israel: Military analyst

Israeli military analyst Amos Harel, writing for the daily Haaretz, argued that the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant have paved the way for a global arms embargo against Israel.

The ICC issued the international arrest warrants, accusing the two officials of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the war in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023.

Harel noted that the ICC decision “could give a tail wind to many criminal complaints and investigations against IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) soldiers and commanders that are being conducted in numerous countries.”

  • As Trump returns, North Korean leader recalls ‘every length' in negotiations with US

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un noted talks with the US in an apparent first reaction to the Nov. 5 US presidential race victory by Donald Trump.

Kim and Trump held two summits and met three times in Singapore, Vietnam and at the Demilitarized Zone, which divides the Korean Peninsula, during the former American president now President-elect’s first term.

“We have already gone to every length in negotiations with the US, and what was certain from the outcome was ... the unchanging invasive and hostile policy toward North Korea,” Kim said at the opening ceremony of an arms exhibition in Pyongyang.
