RABAT, Morrocco (AA) - Dozens of protesters rallied Tuesday in the Moroccan capital and warned of the repercussions of Israel's planned targeting of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, according to an Anadolu correspondent.
Demonstrators chanted slogans in Rabat that demanded Israel stop plans to drive out Palestinians from the enclave.
Organizers from the Action Group for Palestine NGO condemned the failure of the international community to put an end to the war.
The Israeli army approved a plan Feb. 11 to launch a ground operation in Rafah on the border with Egypt.
Since the Palestinian group, Hamas, launched a surprise attack against Israel in early October, at least 28,473 Palestinians have since been killed and 68,146 injured in the ensuing Israeli response. Nearly 1,200 Israelis are believed to have been killed in the Hamas attack.
The Israeli war on Gaza has pushed 85% of the territory's population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the enclave's infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
