Most French no longer see far-right National Rally as threat to democracy, survey suggests
In nearly 4-decade first, less than half of respondents to opinion poll see far-right party as threat to French democracy, with over 30% in favor of its positions

ANKARA (AA) — Most respondents to a recent survey in France said they do not view the far-right National Rally party as a threat to democracy, local media reported on Friday.
This was a reversal from all previous editions of the opinion poll since 1984, according to broadcaster franceinfo. The poll, conducted by Verian-Epoka for franceinfo daily newspaper Le Monde newspaper, showing 33% public support for the positions of the party, led by far-right lawmaker Marine Le Pen.
This year, the survey showed that 41% of respondents think the party threatens democracy, while 43% — an all-time high — think it is capable of taking part in the government.
Two-thirds of respondents (65%) think National Rally could come into power.
