Nasdaq, S&P retreat from record highs as US stocks open lower
Dow heading for 4th consecutive daily loss

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Nasdaq and the S&P 500 retreated from their record high levels as US stocks opened Friday with losses.
The S&P 500 fell 13 points, or 0.24%, to 5,419 at 9.40 a.m. EDT (1340GMT) after it finished the previous session at record closing level of 5,433.
The Nasdaq declined 35 points, or 0.2%, to 17,632 at the time. The tech-heavy index closed Thursday at all-time high of 17,667 points.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, meanwhile, lost 126 points, or 0.33%, to 38,520, while the blue-chip index was heading for its fourth consecutive daily loss.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 4.6% to 12.49. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 0.7% to 4.211%.
The dollar index added 0.53% to 105.75, while the euro shed 0.56% to $1.0675 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in the green, with gold rising 1.2% to $2,332 per ounce and silver increasing 0.9% to $29.23.
Oil prices were up around 0.6%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $83.32 and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $79.06.
