BRUSSELS (AA) - NATO and the European Union condemned the terrorist attack in Russia’s capital Moscow that killed 133 concertgoers.

NATO spokesperson Farah Dakhlallah on Saturday said on X: “We unequivocally condemn the attacks targeting concertgoers in Moscow. Nothing can justify such heinous crimes. Our deepest condolences to the victims and their families.”

EU Council President Charles Michel also said: "I condemn the terrible terrorist attack in Moscow. The loss of innocent lives everywhere is a human tragedy."

“I condemn in the strongest terms the heinous attack perpetrated outside Moscow last night. Terrorism has targeted again defenseless people. The international community must remain firmly united against the scourge of terrorism,” said EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell.

The UN human rights chief Volker Turk said: "We are appalled by the deadly attack on the Crocus City Hall in Moscow. Nothing can justify such an attack."

He also noted that the perpetrators of the attack should be held accountable under human rights law.

Gunmen opened fire at concertgoers late Friday, killing at least 133 people and injuring 145 others. The attack took place as the rock band Picnic was about to perform at the Crocus City Hall just west of Moscow.
