Nearly 100,000 people evacuated from flood-hit areas of Kazakhstan
Melting snow led to flooding across 10 provinces, causing damage to infrastructure

ASTANA (AA) - Nearly 100,000 people have been evacuated from flood-affected areas in Kazakhstan, said authorities on Friday.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a total of 99,920 people have been evacuated from flood-affected areas in the country.
Currently, 6,566 of these individuals have been relocated to temporary shelters, while 9,015 have returned to their homes.
Following a winter of heavy rainfall, the melting snow has led to flooding in more than 3,000 homes across 10 provinces of the country, also causing damage to transportation infrastructure including roads and bridges.
Dams have filled up due to the flooding in the western and northern regions of the country.
A total of 34,272 personnel, including soldiers, are involved in the ongoing evacuation and flood relief efforts, which continue day and night.
Meanwhile, 1,000 tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to the affected areas.
