New automobile sales in Russia down 62.4% in August

ISTANBUL (AA) – Sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia continued to fall in August, down by 62.4% year-on-year, a sectoral body said on Tuesday.

The sales dropped 69,172 units to 41,698, accoding to data by the Association of European Businesses.

Among brands, Volvo and Toyota Group's sales dropped most, 98.9% and 97.3%, respectively.

During the first eight months of 2022, the car and light commercial vehicles sales dropped 60.7% versus the same period last year.
