New home sales in US rise 1.5% in January

ISTANBUL (AA) - New home sales in the US rose 1.5% in January from the previous month, according to a report released Monday by the Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Sales of new single‐family homes were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 661,000.

New home sales, which show the number of new single-family homes sold, were estimated to come in at 680,000 last month.

The figure for December was revised down from 664,000 to 651,000 for a gain of 7.2%.

New home sales in January were 1.8% above the same month in 2023 when the figure stood at 649,000.

An estimated 668,000 new homes were sold in 2023, which was 4.2% above the figure of 641,000 in 2022.

The median sale price of new homes sold was $420,700 in January, while the average price was $534,300.
