New Zealand’s Electoral Commission on Friday announced the final results of the country’s Oct. 14 elections, with the center-right National Party in the lead with 48 seats out of 122.

A statement from the commission said the former ruling Labour Party secured 34 seats, followed by the Green Party with 15 seats, ACT New Zealand with 11, and the New Zealand First Party with eight.

Pati Maori also secured 6 seats.

According to the results, no political party secured a simple majority of 63 seats to form government, but the National Party is in position to form a coalition government with other parties.

National Party leader Christopher Luxon welcomed the results, saying New Zealanders have voted for change.

"Talks with both ACT leader David Seymour and NZ First leader Winston Peters have been constructive and will continue as we work to finalise a government," Luxon said on X.

"Thank you for the trust you have put in me and National. Kiwis can be assured that a National-led Government will be strong, stable, and unified in the common interests of the people of New Zealand," he added.
