Nigeria promises help to South Sudan to end insurgency
Nigerian president assures help after meeting special envoy of South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit

KANO, Nigeria (AA) – Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday promised to help South Sudan to end insurgency, and restore cohesion in the country.
In a statement issued by the presidential spokesperson Femi Adesina said that President Buhari had met Albino Mathom Ayuel, special envoy of South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
“We will study your situation, and see how we can help,” President Buhari said.
The special envoy apprised the president about the situation in his country, “, particularly on the activities of insurgents and terror groups like Boko Haram, which have been killing and maiming people.”
He then urged for “close collaboration on security, particularly the training of forces, since Nigeria has an experience in this area.”
Albino Ayuel said South Sudan was keen on curbing the activities of insurgents, therefore needs help and assistance.
