Nigerian president sacks 2 ministers
‘Critical self-review’ of government programs lead to ministers’ exit, says presidential spokesman

LAGOS, Nigeria (AA) - Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari sacked two of his Cabinet members on Wednesday.
In a statement, Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman, said that Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Mohammed Sabo Nanono and Power Minister Sale Mamman have been dismissed by the president.
The ministers were appointed by Buhari in August 2019 shortly after he was re-elected for a second four-year term.
Two other serving ministers have been asked to take over the agriculture and power ministries, Adesina said.
He said the changes were a sequel to the “tradition of subjecting our projects and programs implementation to independent and critical self-review."
On Monday, Salisu Muktar, an official of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), criticized the agriculture minister for failure to invite critical stakeholders and relevant government agencies in the country to a recent Feed Nigeria Summit (FNS) in Abuja.
