KIGALI, Rwanda (AA) – People who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will not be required to isolate at hotels when they arrive in Rwanda, the government said Thursday.
A statement issued by the prime minister’s office said the change came into force on Oct. 14.
It, however, said all arriving and departing passengers must present a proof of negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to travel.
The change comes days after some countries relaxed restrictions against travelers from Rwanda.
Rwanda is among the 23 African nations the UK removed from the list of 54 countries whose travelers are required to quarantine in an approved hotel at their own cost for 10 days when they visit the UK.
The Netherlands has also recently placed Rwanda in the “yellow category.” Travelers from “yellow countries” are allowed to enter the Netherlands, though with caution.
Meanwhile the Rwandan government further eased COVID-19 restrictions nationwide, with the night curfew pushed from 11 p.m. lcoal time to midnight as of Thursday while businesses will operate until 11 p.m.
