North Korea begins reconstructing border guard posts, says Seoul
Guard posts were taken down under 2018 inter-Korean military agreement

ISTANBUL (AA) - South Korea said on Monday that North Korea has recently deployed soldiers and equipment to its southern border to rebuild guard posts taken down under the 2018 inter-Korean military agreement.
After North Korea vowed to resume all military measures halted in the 2018 deal, the South Korean military said there are increased activities along the border, following Seoul's partial suspension of the accord due to North Korea's launch of a military spy satellite.
Armed North Korean soldiers were spotted fixing damaged guard posts in the Demilitarized Zone in multiple locations since Friday, according to military officials using cameras and thermal optical devices, Seoul-based Yonhap news agency reported.
"There are only a few guard posts currently undergoing restoration works, but (North Korea is) expected to restore all of them as they are essential facilities for surveillance," a senior military official said.
